Subject: Great show for Brent Lovers
Subject: Great show for Brent Lovers
I'm kind of surprised there aren't many reviews for this show. Many years ago when I was massively into tape trading, I asked one of my trading partners for a really good Brent show.....he selected this one.
Along with Hey Pocky Way, Women are Smarter, he really shines on a lot of songs, both with backup vocals and his keyboard playing. It really is Brent at his best.
This show also contains one of the funniest Dead bloopers I've ever heard. Blackbird (first time played), the boys totally screw up the vocals towards the end of the song. You can hear Brent burst out laughing, and then Jerry and Bob started laughing to where they could barely finish the song. As you can hear, the audience loved it, as they cheered and laughed along too.
And this particular audience recording is by far the best one available. The others sounded too muddy, and another audience tape had a couple of guys yelling too close to the microphones.
The other personal highlight for me was Jerry singing the extremely rare "Believe It or Not". At the end of the song he just pours his heart and soul out into this song, and the audience responds in kind. Great energy that you can't really hear from a soundboard tape.
This is definitely one of my favorite late 80's shows.
